I haven't had an issue with Plex until i installed Snow Leopard.

The issue is how the Mediastream skin is being displayed. Its as if the resolution is set really low. See the pic and look at the highlighter on the TV shows.

I have tried re-installing a fresh version of Plex but got the same result.

Has anyone come upon this or has a fix?

I'm having the exact same issue as you, so you're definitely not alone. I would not describe it as being 'low resolution', it appears as if the amount of colours that it is using to render it is 16 bit or possibly even less? See my attachment below.

Someone mentioned that it is a bug with the chipset you have in combination with Snow Leopard. Appearantly it is the same bug on XBMC for Mac.
What computers do you guys have?

Same issue here on both Plex and XBMC. It's not related to a single skin.

2.4GHz MacBook - MB403/A - Intel GMA X3100.

Then I did not remember incorrectly. The X3100 chip is the problem, and I think you guys need to wait longer than you would like. But who am I to tell.
I would guess that Elan and the boys are including some detective work for this. So keep your fingers crossed that they can find a solution now when they are fixing the other Snow Leopard bugs.

I'm running on a new Mac mini with the Nvidia 9400 gpu... I'm not having any weird color issues, but I am having odd issues where sometimes the list view breaks... like I can no longer go up and down on the list of files or plugins - I have to switch to a different mode (like info list view or wall view), then back and it works.

I'm not having this problem using the Plexaeon skin though.

Having the same issue:

http://forums.plexap...?showtopic=8934

It happened on Front Row initially as well but the problem's gone with FR

Apparently it *IS* specific to Snow Leopard though

I have the same Macbook and also have this problem since upgrade to Snow Leopard. I use Plex in a daily basis and I am considering a downgrade.

No idea of what would cause this "low resolution" bug?

Any news on the X3100 stuff yet? I did read that it isn't OpenCL compatible. Is that the issue?

No. OpenCL is not anything that Plex utilizes yet.

Same problem here :/ also got the X3100 in my MacBook.

And i got Screen-Resolution problems at playback... 16:9 movies/shows always have black bars on left/right screen site...

Snow Leo + X3100 =! Plex :/

So everyone with the X3100 who wants to use Plex atm has to stay with Leopard 10.5

I've added a Lighthouse ticket for this bug here: https://plexapp.ligh...-problem-on-106

Note: It's genenal Lighthouse etiquette to only add replies to the ticket if you have new information or something of technical value to add. If you want updates on the ticket, you can get an account and watch it. Everyone watching the ticket gets an email whenever it's updated, so replies like "Me too" and "When will this be fixed?" aren't helpful, and can quickly get irritating when lots of them start clogging up inboxes :) Please keep general chat to the forum.

We are aware of the problems with Snow Leopard, and that there are obviously lots of users wanting to upgrade (ourselves included). We're working hard on tracking down the remaining bugs, but until we know exactly what's causing them it's hard to give more information or an estimated timeframe for a fix.

Supposedly 10.6.1 updated the X3100 drivers…anyone see any difference with the new drivers?

Just updated my macbook with GMA X3100 to 10.6.1 from a clean SL install.. Still the same "low-res" highlight-bar, but the black bars on each side of any movie is gone

No change here either after updating to 10.6.1, that's pretty disappointing.

Not sure if you guys remember this, because it requires a trip in the way back machine... I got my macbook with the X3100 just around the time that "OSXBMC" came out... there were issues with the X3100 back then and I was posting about it on the XBMC board... while I'm not saying that perhaps Apple reverted to some crap source code for the driver, here is a link to the thread and problems back then... I think that someone who is a graphics wiz fixed that problem:

http://xbmc.org/foru...troubleshooting

The X3100 must be a cursed chip... sure glad I use a mini for Plex... at least the 950 always works!

I have to say, though, that while I like Snow Leopard, Apple has done some rather silly things (like this with the X3100)... and my Canon printer... they load a Gutenberg driver that doesn't work (Selphy CP-720)... the only driver that will work is the old OSX 10.5 driver from the Canon website... I posted about it on the Apple.com forum, but I wish there was a way of directly reporting to Apple so they can fix that in a point release.

Shit, I remember that thread. Wow, brings back memories =)
The 28th of February 2008 Elan said that we should look in the blog for som great news. So appearantly that is when it was fixed by him and D4rk. Can find the blog now though. That was 4 months before Elan forked it into Plex.
