0.9.5.3.309 for Linux

Just pushing a point update to 0.9.5.3 with build number 309. This fixes a very annoying "socket leak" when publishing servers to myPlex. It could make some distributions to lock up and leak a lot of resources. All users are encouraged to upgrade!
unRAID: http://plex-download...31-i386.tar.bz2
Synology: http://plex-download...309-cf5540b.spk
ReadyNAS: http://plex-download...524cf73-x86.bin (yes ReadyNAS has a different build number, don't fret)
QNAP: http://plex-download...5.3.30_x86.qpkg
Ubuntu users get it from the apt source directly
Enjoy!

Should not the links at http://www.plexapp.c...ms-download.php be updated as well? I see the older link there for the ReadyNAS download, at least...
They will, I just don't know how to do that

oh wait... nevermind. I see the note up at the top. But something is wrong. Trying to re-apply. Waited forever for that chmod to finish. :-\ We'll see if it does better this time.

I created a myPlex account and published the server so that I could log in and that allowed my iPad client to see content. However, all the videos that used to play now just throw up the "Couldn't start playback" "Plex was unable to play this video" message.
For my Roku's it's worse. They don't even see the server anymore, either by discovery or manually adding.
Please help, where's the steps on what i need to do to reconfigure this so that it works.
Thanks,
-Mark

Big problems with this release. To be fair it's be since January that i've updated but when i installed 0.9.5.3.309 all my clients stopped working.

What hardware and OS are you using? Can you post logs?

I'm afraid neither 0.9.5.3 or 0.9.5.3.309 have fixed the 'daily crash' problem for me. PMS still crashes once per 18-24 hours on my unRAID server.
Can i do anything to help diagnose the problem? If you need me to post a log, could you please tell me where to find it / copy the data from, sorry, noob at the whole 'log' thing.
Thanks

If it's the same error I saw on other platforms then you should be able to see a socket leak. The best way to do that is to use the util 'lsof'. First you need the process id of Plex Media Server. That is found with
ps axuww |grep PlexLook for the process that is 'Plex Media Server' not something about plugins. Process ID (PID) is the first column.
The run lsof
lsof -p <pid from above>
If you see tons of open TCP sockets that are in state "CLOSE_WAIT" then I know what kind of bug it is.
Does anyone else on unRAID see the same problem with the 309 build?

ALso had issues with this released on my Synology. It wouldn't scan my library (manual, schedules or even started by sickbeard). Reverted back to the previous 9.5.3 version and it detected immediately my new episodes.
Can you post logs? If you have problems with the scanner I would like to see Plex Media Server.log and Plex Media Scanner.log
I might have botched the synology build. I really need to get a synology device....

This is what i got...
So not the same problem.
Can you explain what happens? It stops answering when you go to the media manager or?
Check for the Plex Media Server.log, should be in your home directory ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs/Plex Media Server.log
Best to upload it to dropbox or something similar. Do it next time the PMS dies or hangs or whatever happens to it. Note that the log will be erased every time you restart the server, so make the copy first before restarting.
Thanks.

Thanks, i'll post the log next time i get a crash. As far as i can tell the process just terminates. If i am watching a movie, it will just stop and then the relevant media section, e.g. 'Movies' won't appear in the main menu on the client. If i check unRAID via telnet (ps -A) the process isn't running anymore and i have to run the start.sh script again.
EDIT: From what i can tell PMS has saved the previous log, not erased it, so here's the link for the log from the crash that happened tonight ... Plex Media Server.old.log

Ah, so a real 'crash'. Interesting. There are ways to debug that.. One of them is to attach a debugger, it requires a bit of work though. I will check with Elan if we have any crash detection that we can enable.

Thanks for the help
I am happy to try the debugger, if it helps sort the problem, although i might need some guidance and will probably ask a few noob questions, as i'm still learning
Let me know when you hear from Elan

If you look at his log, you'll see he's running Plex from a hidden directory. That's his issue right there. That will, without a doubt, cause this issue (it was happening to me). People on the unRAID forum have figured out that if you run it from: /mnt/cache/PMS (or whichever folder you want as long as it's not hidden), there won't be anymore crashes. Weird I know

That sounds really odd. So if you put plex in a directory that starts with a . it will crash after a while? That at least sounds debuggable
