ST600 Media Link Issues

List of problems

Notes are below the problem...which may include a work-around.

1080p files stop and buffer frequently.
  • The buffer icon pops up every 10 seconds or so.
  • Files will less than 7000Kbps work fine.
  • Thoughput problem...If you press pause and let it buffer ahead, then it works.

The resolution listed is incorrect.
  • It shows 1024x768 for all resolutions.

Sometimes Media Link shows servers that are not turned on.
  • Refresh of server on PC fixes it.

Photos do not work.
  • I can see thumbnails, but cannot open files.
  • Error “The Request cannot be processed.”

Sub and .idx subtitles do not work .SMI does work.
  • Only .SMI subtitles are supported.

Media server not found

Try this on windows:
Click Start.
Type mscongfig in the run box.
Click Services.
Un-check Bonjour.
Click ok and restart.
Now test.

If the TV still has trouble...

Recommended boot order:
Turn on the PC.
Wait for PMS to start running.
Now turn on the TV.
No PMS? Turn the TV off, wait 10 seconds, and try it again.

Nice touch Nick, can we expect the TV bugs and Request thread to be updated on a similar basis? With firmware changes etc?

Nice to have this. If I might add

-mp4, m4v files do not work
-avi files break up every few minutes
-ff,rw does not work with mkv

philip

Edit: m4v, mp4 have started working though not as well as via dlna or cifs.

Nick,
It seems the box doesn't play Apple Lossless (m4a) music files. I think that's a pretty important one, especially since it just went open source.
Thanks,
Phil C.

REQUEST:

It would be possible to implement Plex-Medialink can select also the audio track by pressing the MENU (or another key) when play movies or TV shows?

The options list like showed when press MENU button in DNLA when play movies will be perfect implemented into Plex-Medialink ...

Thank you!

Please use the beta until the next firmware release.

ST600: ST.9.79.901 (Beta)

Just copy the ROM file to a USB and insert it while the ST600 is turned on.

Thank you! Now my ST600 open video of Plex Server! But subtitles like "ã, é" it does not show correctly.
I'm from Brazil, and here, it's very important for us.

I updated the ROM file to the beta...

Still cannot see the PLEX Server running on my Windows 7 64bit

The Green button on the ST600 no longer functions...cannot access setup feature or run the Device Selection option under Media Link

On the flip side, I installed Plex on a Windows Vista PC on the same network and I can access the shares there with no problem.

Definitely seems to indicate an issue with Windows 7 still

I have this problem with one of my PCs with Win7 64. I have to keep uninstalling PMS and re-installing. My phone and ST600 can't connect sometimes unless I reboot PMS. I reported the problem. I'm going to reinstall Windows and see if that does anything.

Not to play captain obvious... but based on the growing number of people with Win 7 64 issues in this thread "http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/32265-media-server-not-found/" I am hoping that we may have a fix targeted soon.

Based on some flaky issues, going to go back to 187 since the beta did nothing to resolve my win 7 64 problem.

Good hunting

So I keep replying to myself here, but I am happy to report that I seemed to have solved my own issues. What it came down to was firewall issues on the PC. I was running ESET security on top of Windows firewall. I had to disable the ESET Firewall, then set the check marks under Public for Bonjour and Plex in the Windows Firewall section. Once I did this, the Server showed up and is running great.

ESET was set to allow Plex to work; however it was obviously blocking some of the communications with Medialink. Not done digging into this one.

I've just bought a new ST600 and after upgrading to ST.9.79.901 (Beta) I did manage to play video files from MediaLink.

The problem that I've detected is that I cannot play pics, neither from MediaLink nor DLAN. In fact, I CAN play pics from DLAN, but with low resolution but not high resolution ones. Within MediaLink I was unable to play any file thought I can see the thumbnail.

The resolutions I used are:
- Works fine on 2560x1920px (1.46MB) from Samsung Galaxy S camera
- Does not work with 4752x3168px (6.40MB) from Canon EOS camera. Thumbnail pics are not shown either.

Would be awesome if the firmware would have an auto update option that would update right before you shut down for any new updates

I can't open video and photo file on my ST600 update with firmware: ST.9.79.901 (Beta)
Plex Media Server (v0.9.5) installed on Windows 7 32 bit; the LAN connection is wireless. I've added correctly file media in the relative section of Media Server (photo and video) and when library scan is complete i can see photo and video thumbnails (note: in the VIDEO section not all thumbnails...why???).
On ST600 MediaLink i see the Media Server (my PC), i can see the correct sections that i've added, video and photo thumbnails.....but when i try to play any file the ST600 send me an error (impossible to reproduce.....or similar)!!!??? Why???? What's wrong??
Can you help me??? Please..... :(
thanks

According to LG support the ST-600 has a 4MB limitation on file size for pics
They didn't say why or if it will get fixed in future update! My workaround was to make a copy of my pics folder (w subfolders) and resize all pics to 1080 pix height (using Irfanview batch conversion). No quality loss noted, but pics load very fast! The drawback is of course having to make downsized copies everytime new pics are added, but thanks to Irfanviews batch conversion this is quite simple.
