Just wanted to get some input as to what versions of Linux we might support in the future. Thanks for your time
Happily running Debian at the moment, but for PMS on Linux, I'd consider changing distro!
Linux PMS would make me a happy boy!
Merry Christmas from Sydney and thank you for all the hard work you guys have put in to this.

If you are asked to provide logs, which you will be if you are having plugin problems, the wiki has details on how to find them.

I also prefer a CLI only version, that I can control through my iMac.
This way I can run PMS on my NAS server which has no GUI.

I run plex on my mac and all my media files are on my QNAP NAS, I use a lot the IOS plex to watch tv-shows on my lunch break and while on vacation.
Having the plex library running on my QNAP NAS would allow me to shutdown my iMac while on vacation.
THX in advance...

Second option would probably be Redhat, mainly because I use it daily at work. (RHEL rather than Fedora but Fedora would be fine)
And in third place would be Ubuntu which I am also happy to use.
Regards.

Edit: I'll also say that a CLI version would be really useful

Ubuntu or Debian works for me - CLI, but with a web interface for settings etc. would be great. Not that I can't edit a file with settings, but a simple web interface would make the process easier.

Another option I think would be acceptable would be to have a CLI which can be managed by a remote/client Media Manager. That way I could have a headless PMS, and manage the media from a Media Manager GUI on my Mac.

Also it would be compatible with dreambox 500s cheap and very popular sat receiver with Enigma a linux flavor.
Other interesting distro is Enigma2 that is similar to Enigma but is currently used in newer models of dreambox.
These are very interesting devices because of their really low power consumption and because they are already always turned on.
(Not sure about performance limitations though)
Imagine a Fonera router with a few disks attached running plex media server and an fully automated bit torrent client + a few apple TVs with Plex client around the house…
Really cheap, low energy footprint, always on, very elegant and small

Debian - Ubuntu is the most popular linux distribution and they use the same package manager
FreeBSD - One of the most popular flavors of BSD. Also FreeNAS is based on it.
dd-wrt/open-wrt - I don't know if a router is enough to power PMS but it would be awesome!
Enigma/Enigma2 - I don't know if a sat receiver is enough to power PMS but it would be awesome!
Fedora/Redhat
Archlinux is becoming very popular and very interesting because can be completely personalized and striped down making it a really interesting option for specific purpose servers like running PMS

And if a web interface is chosen then an XML or HTML export of the library would be greatly apperciated...
Nice feature would be for the actual library manager on Mac to become front end that would connect to the library manager on the NAS.
Great work ahead guys ! :-)

Elan.... why a specific version? If you do a Linux port, it should be running on Linux. No matter what distro. That's the whole point about Linux.
