Hi and welcome to the forums!I have a folder with multiple video files, including divx, avi, mp4, mov and of course video_TS folders. When adding media, plex only sees the video_TS folders and not the other single files. Browsing the HD folder does not show those files, even specifying the path via keyboard does not list the files. I've read and reread the online manual, gone over the videos and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
Thanks for your help.
Do you mean that the files show up in the "Videos" section but not in "Movies"? What are the files named like?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

The folder has multiple files, named eg. icestationzebra.divx, heavymetal.divx, redplanet.avi, flushedaway.mov etc. I am trying to add these to my library and when I browse to the folder, plex does not show me any of them (I know they are there from finder). Plex only shows folders of movies in video_TS format (I have three such folders in the same folder of single file movies) which I am able to add to the library.
Basically what I am trying to do is to add a bunch of single file movies in different formats into the plex library under the section "add videos/movie" but none of these files show when I navigate to the said folder, so I am unable to access them through plex. Must be something fundamental and basic I am not getting right.

If Plex is successfully recognising folders with VIDEO_TS folders inside, the I assume you've got "Use folder names for lookups" turned on in the scraper settings. For this to work, I think you'll need to put each of your .avi, .divx, .mov, etc. files in their own folders. Try it with a couple to see if it works.
Ah, that makes sense. I must say I thought the scraper was only useful if you wanted to look up info from imdb etc, didn't realize it also influences addition of movies to the library. Will put each file in a folder and see, or maybe change scraper settings to 'not use' folder names for lookup.
One more question. Is plex capable of playing divx movies? Quicktime is not doing it for me even after installing perian. I have lots of movies in divx format.
Thanks.

And yes, Plex does play divx :-)
However, all is still not well. Starting new thread on inability to 'set content'.
Thanks everyone.

OK, that was fixed too. It was driving me crazy, not being able to set content, since none of the imdb or other options would show up. Pressing the up and down arrows on the menu bar did nothing and the title bar itself kept saying 'none'.
Finally I installed Hulu and Netflix plugins and voila, everything now shows up, and I am able to set content, using imdb and now my videos also show up in 'watch your movies' section.
I am amazed by this application. Being a netflix member, the instant access via plex is incredible. Add to that the other plugins and the ability to play ripped movies/music from my NAS makes it an incredible program.
My sincere thanks to the developers.
Why is there such little awareness of something as awesome as this? It took me over three months of intense research on various fora (avsforum included)to find something like this. Is it to do with the dominance of Windows?
In any case, I am one happy camper now. Thanks so much.

I have asked myself that question as well. In Sweden we are pretty big. A big chunck of the Mac community are well aware of it due to different reasons. I think Plex is closing in on 100,000 users (or something like that) and growing every day. Hopefully we have doubled that by the middle of next year. That would be super awesome. I think it is possible. Word of mouth usually works pretty good as long as there is a big happy userbase.OK, that was fixed too.
